We recently provided a reminder that enrolments for employers who want to claim JobKeeper payments for the month of April 2020 (for the first two fortnights being 30 March 2020 to 12 April 2020, and 13 April 2020 to 26 April 2020) were due.
The Commissioner for Taxation has, this week, extended the time for employers to enrol for the April JobKeeper payments until Sunday, 31 May 2020.
Employers still have time to decide whether to enrol for the April JobKeeper payments, but not for much longer. To be eligible for reimbursement under the JobKeeper scheme for the first two fortnights of April, you must pay your employees the minimum $1,500.00 payment for each of those fortnights by 8 May 2020.
The Government is also expected to update the JobKeeper legislation for the purpose of integrity and efficient operation, and to clarify confusion. We expect that further Government guidance will be available in the near future.
